Laharn is an active rural community situated on the foot of Baelic Mountain in the heart of North Cork. The small village with a population of less than 100 people has become renowned in recent years for its involvement in the revival of the country’s most traditional and cultural events.
The village is centred around a cross roads where the majority of the activities take place. That very crossroads, Laharn Cross is the location famous for people gathering every Sunday night throughout the summer months to enjoy live traditional Irish music. People dance on the specially erected timber platform and enjoy the open air, scenery, meeting people and most importantly, the music provided.
Laharn is also host to a newly refurbished Community Cultural & Heritage Centre which is home to a number of traditional and cultural events throughout the year.
